The Spirit of Hospitality

The"Spirit of Hospitality" is defined as the concept of dealing with visitors and guests in a particularly, cordial and warm fashion.

This is a sense whereby, as a host, the sense of joy and satisfaction of treating guests cordially is mirrored by the guest’s satisfaction.

Essentially, a mutually dependent relationship, this will form the backbone of not only the tourism industry but also, everyday life.

Becoming the building block to creating civil and affluent human relationships, as well as the development of a vigorous local community, acting in the spirit of hospitality is to the benefit of all residents of Nara Prefecture.

"Spirit of Hospitality"-- A Requirement now.

People from all around the world are embarking on an era dubbed the"Era of Great Exchange." More and more people are becoming global citizens, more reluctant to have children. These people travel more frequently and more freely across an increasingly borderless world. These individuals are less burdened by responsibility that generations in the past have come to known.

Under these circumstances, it is a significant that Nara Prefecture realizes a vigorous and active local community suited to a gregarious gathering of people.

"The Nara Prefecture Spirit of Hospitality Council" comprising representatives made up of local inhabitants, business organizations and local government has therefore been established in order to foster “The Spirit of Hospitality.” This is a Nara Prefecture citizen’s movement.

The year 2010 is a chance for Nara Prefecture to leap forward.

Fostering the "Spirit of Hospitality" will be a continuous effort. Ranging from casual greetings to paying attention to the small details of every day life, the aim is to change people’s senses and actions.

Fortunately, Nara Prefecture will be hosting the Commemorative Events of the 1300th Anniversary of Nara Heijo-kyo Capital, as a national event. A large number of people from both inside and outside Nara Prefecture will be involved in these events.
This will be a wonderful opportunity to improve Nara Prefecture's image. Fostering the "The Spirit of Hospitality", events associated with the 1300th anniversary of Nara Heijo-kyo Capital will be the the eventual forcus of our efforts
