Byakugoji Temple

Located at halfway up Mt. Takamado. Also known as Issaikyo. On fine days, it commands a view that stretches over the Yamato plain to Mt. Nijo and to Mt. Katsuragi. Enshrines Amidanyorai-zazo (sitting wooden statue of Amitabha Tathagata), Jizobosatsu-ritsuzo (standing wooden statue of Ksitigarbha) and Emmao-zazo (sitting wooden statue of Yama). The temple is decorated with beautiful five-colored camellias (a Natural Monument) in spring and with hagi (Japanese bush clover) in fall.
