Huge 7m-tall Zaogongen Statue

This temple was established by the magico-religious practitioner, Ennogyoja who underwent ascetic training on Mt. Katsuragi in Yamato area (the present day Nara Prefecture) in the 8th century. The temple contains three massive Zaogongen Statues, each 7m high. These statues are only open to the public on special occasions. The Zaodo Hall is 27.7m high, and is the second largest hall in Japan after the Daibutsuden Hall in Todaiji Temple.
